Martin has recently been appointed as Head of Data & Tech at EDF Wholesale Market Services (WMS) and is responsible for transforming the WMS tech stack and ways of working to maintain and grow its market leading position and enable the UK’s transition to a Net Zero world.

Previously, Martin brought together EDF Retail’s data teams from across IT, Marketing and

Operations to form a Data Centre of Excellence covering Data Strategy, the Data Platform, Data Science, Business Intelligence and Data Driven Marketing.

Under his leadership, the team implemented Snowflake, including one of the world’s first

implementations of Snowpark, Snowflake’s new Data Science developer experience, in-housed the marketing database and campaign management system, delivered a number of value adding Data Science products such as Customer Lifetime Value, Vulnerable Customer identification, and Net Zero Product propensity models, rolled out Tableau across the business and enabled people from all teams to add value from data through the Data Democratisation Programme.

Prior to leading the data teams, Martin held a range of senior positions across Tech, Digital,

Marketing and Operations.

Martin is an active member of the wider data& tech community, currently sitting on Smart

Energy GB’s Board as a non-executive director, a regular speaker at UK and international

conferences and is named in Data IQ’s Big Data 100 as one of the most influential people in the UK Data Industry.
